Savage
Mill started out as a 19th century cotton mill on the banks
of the Little Patuxent River in Savage, Maryland. An
adaptive restoration has turned the mill into the region's
most unique home design and arts/craft retail center.
Presently, the mill is home to more than 175,000 square feet
of collector quality antiques, home furnishing centers,
resident artisans, galleries, restaurants, craft shops,
specialty shops, a French Bakery (with wood-fired ovens),
and a Gourmet Café. History, collectibles, timeless crafts,
and one-of-a-kind originals Savage Mill has it all.
Savage Mill consists of 9 buildings
which date back to 1810 and are mostly interconnected. They range from
one to five levels. The Mill, an Historic Landmark, was placed on the
National Register of Historic Places in 1974. The grounds consist of 17
acres, including 2 parking areas. Howard County owns and maintains
Savage Park, which includes hundreds of acres and encircles the entire
area.
